Nashville man arrested for unlawful discharge of a firearm
On July 9th, the Howard County Sheriff’s Department received a call from 116 Staggs Dr in Howard County from Jayden Pope. It was reported that dispatchers informed units that a white car with black rims drove by Pope’s house, shooting at him as he stood in the yard. Howard County Deputy Aaron Quick and Nashville Officer Jarrett Roger reportedly arrived on the scene and tried to locate the suspect vehicle in the area.
As reported, Pope told officers that he was smoking outside and heard a gunshot. Pope stated that he then turned around and saw the suspect that was identified as 21-year-old Samuel Avalos of Nashville, in a white car allegedly pointing a gun in his direction and shooting. Pope reportedly told officers that he and Avalos had been in a fight the day before and Avalos was arrested.
It was also reported that Deputy Quick lives next door to the crime scene and as Quick observed the security cameras, it shows a white Chrysler 300 with black rims driving by at 10:58am. Quick reported that he heard two gunshots, and the vehicle came back two minutes later and fired a single shot. After deputies learned where Avalos lived, they went to the residence and located Avalos’s vehicle. Officers arrested Avalos and transported him to the Howard County Detention Facility, and he was charged with unlawful discharge of a firearm from a vehicle.
