NEVADA COUNTY CEREAL DRIVE UNDERWAY TO SUPPORT LOCAL FAMILIES

The Nevada County Retired School Employees Association has once again launched its annual Cereal Drive, aiming to collect breakfast items over the next six weeks to help fight hunger in the community.

KMTB and KNAS spoke with Ann Oliver and Jane Purtle, both retired educators who are leading this year’s effort.

Oliver, who taught school for 40 years, shared how her background in education inspired her to give back.

Purtle, who taught for 26 years, expressed how meaningful it is to be involved.

Donation boxes are set up at multiple locations including:

  • Bank of Delight
  • Cash Saver Grocery Store
  • Church of Christ Church
  • Dalrymple & Crain Accounting
  • Dollar General
  • Express RX
  • Farmers Bank & Trust
  • First Baptist Church
  • First United Methodist Church
  • Prescott Flowers

Organizers are collecting boxed cereal, oatmeal, protein bars, and other non-perishable breakfast foods. All donations will be delivered to the Stokes Center at Central Baptist Church in Prescott.

Purtle emphasized the importance of the community meeting the deadline for donations.

You can call Ann Oliver at 870-887-3913 or Jane Purtle at 870-403-8875 to arrange a time.

The Nevada County Retired School Employees Association hopes everyone in the community will take part, reminding residents that a simple box of cereal can make a big difference in the life of a local child this summer.
