Nashville Parks and Recreation Commission Hosts Monthly Meeting, Announces Exciting Community Events
The Nashville Parks and Recreation Commission held its regular monthly meeting yesterday, where Parks and Recreation Director Meghan Floyd provided updates on the ongoing baseball season, upcoming events, and future projects for the community.
Floyd kicked off the meeting with a report on the start of the baseball season, which officially began on March 10th, with the Jamboree event on March 9th. The event featured games for the 5U, 6U, 8U, and 10U teams. Floyd shared that the gate fees for the event amounted to $2,647.74 in cash and $95 in card payments, bringing the total to $2,742.74. Concessions were also a hit, grossing $1,789.75 in cash and $275.50 in cards, totaling $2,065.25.
Floyd expressed hope that these funds would be sufficient to help cover the costs of the planned batting cages project, noting that she is in the process of securing bids for the work.
In addition to the baseball season, Floyd shared several exciting upcoming events. The community’s Easter Egg Hunt is scheduled for April 19th at 10 a.m., offering fun for families in the area. The Parks and Recreation Department will also host several softball tournaments on April 12th, May 17th, followed by the NCS tournament on May 31st.
Floyd also announced the dates for this summer’s sports camps. The basketball camp will take place from June 16th to June 20th, the football camp from June 30th to July 4th, the soccer camp from July 14th to July 18th, and the baseball/softball camp from July 28th to August 1st. Floyd mentioned that pamphlets for these camps would be distributed to local schools soon.
In other business, the board approved a motion to move forward with a window replacement project at the Legion Hut. The project will be completed at a cost of $550.
