Nashville Parks Commission Sets Baseball Season Dates, Approves Fee Reduction for Youth Sports

The Nashville Parks and Recreation Commission met Tuesday to discuss upcoming youth sports seasons, facility improvements and future planning efforts.
Among the items addressed was the 2026 baseball season. Parks Director Meghan Floyd reported that baseball registration is now closed, with team drafts for Nashville squads scheduled for Saturday, February 21. The season jamboree will be held March 21, and the first games of the season are set to begin March 30. Nashville will host teams from Dierks, Murfreesboro and Horatio this year.
Commission members also discussed the upcoming state softball and baseball tournaments. According to Coach Boomer Brown, Nashville High School has been selected to host this year’s state tournaments May 14–16. The tournament format has changed, allowing more teams to advance to state competition. As a result, games will be played on two fields instead of one during the tournament.
In other business, progress was reported on the baseball parking project. The old fence behind the baseball batting cages and soccer area has been removed. Officials are waiting for crews to clear brush and trees from the property before determining how to configure additional parking at the baseball complex.
The commission also announced an upcoming master plan meeting scheduled for today at City Hall. An engineer will meet with city officials to begin discussions on current park priorities and future improvements.
Additionally, the commission voted to reduce registration fees for youth soccer, basketball and flag football to $60. The motion was made by James Reed and seconded by Dale Patrick. The measure passed unanimously, 6–0.
Commission members said the changes are aimed at supporting local families while continuing to improve recreational opportunities in Nashville.
