Nashville Police Department K-9 Officer Rebecca Castleman Prepares to Take Over as Officer Greg Parker Retires

As we continue our coverage of Nashville Police Department K-9 Officer Greg Parker’s upcoming retirement, we had the opportunity to catch up with Officer Rebecca Castleman, who will be stepping into his role this month.
Before speaking with Castleman, Parker reflected on the K-9 partners who have been part of his career, mentioning his first dog, Rico, as well as his current partner, Apollo.
Parker explained that building a successful partnership with a K-9 officer starts with trust. He says earning that trust is an important part of working with the dogs.
As Castleman prepares to take over the position, she shared some of her background and the path that led her to where she is today.
Castleman also spoke about the respect she has for Parker, saying she looks up to him and knows she has some big shoes to fill.
And while taking over Parker’s position comes with plenty of responsibility, Castleman says one of her goals is to build that same special bond with Apollo that Parker has developed throughout their time working together.
As Officer Parker prepares to retire after 21 years with the Nashville Police Department, Officer Castleman is getting ready to begin the next chapter of the department’s K-9 program alongside Apollo.
