Nashville Post Office collects over 5,000 lbs. of food during Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive

On Saturday, May 14, the Nashville Post Office participated in the Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive, which is the country’s largest one-day food drive and provides resident with an easy way to donate food to those in need.

According to mail carrier, Jim Kirkland, the Nashville Post Office collected over 5,000 lbs. of food and more food is still be donated.

Mail carriers passed out bags for residents to fill with food and then leave beside their mailbox. Mail carriers picked up the bags and donated the food to area food banks.

This was the 30th year that the US Postal Service has conducted the Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive, however this year was the first time since the start of the pandemic in 2020.
