Dierks School District addressing attendance issues

The Dierks School Board held their regular meeting on Monday night.
Elementary Principal Lori Finley discussed attendance rates dropping along with an improvement plan for the school. 

Finley also did a comparison just across the grades that fall into the chronic absenteeism.

Finley stated that there will be a blood drive at JoAnn Walters Elementary School this Friday from 1pm to 4pm and if anyone is interested in donating blood they can sign up through the link on the web page news story. Finley also mentioned that the Elementary School received a $3,000 grant from Weyerhaeuser. 
Principal Gene Strode said the High School attendance is 234 and he discussed meeting with the co-op along with coming up with a plan to improve the student’s reading skills.

A motion was made by Laykon Graham and seconded by Justin Simmons to approve two students out of the district.
