Nashville Quorum Court
The Howard County Quorum Court has voted to spend nearly ten thousand on improvements at the Nashville airport. Mark Wiley, a local pilot who frequently uses the airport, gave a presentation at yesterday’s quorum court meeting to suggest a plan for future improvements be made. Among Wiley’s comments was the need for additional hangers so that more local pilots could store planes there. Airports having at least 10 planes stored at their airports are eligible for federal funds.
In the short term, Wiley said the airport is in need of repairs to its glide slope indicator, which is technology that assists pilots during the landing process. The project will be paid with a grant that requires just 10 percent local funding. However, an inspection is also required once the project is finished. The anticipated cost of that is eight thousand dollars, which must be paid locally.
Wiley also said the airport beacons need to be upgraded to L.E.D. lights, which is a minimal expense.
Circuit Clerk Angie Lewis also detailed a new video system in place at the courtroom. Lewis said the new system includes wireless microphones & two 82 inch tv screens, along with a projector. Lewis also requested improvements within the courtroom, including the purchase of new window blinds. She also suggested new carpet will be needed within the next couple years.
