Nashville Quorum Court

The Howard County Quorum Court Monday heard from a delegation of residents who live near the site where a solar panel array will be built for the city of Nashville.  The property in question is just outside the Nashville city limits on the Old Center Point Road.  Mike Chambers, along with Ricky & Tera Lee Kesterson, live very near the site & voiced their concerns.  Tera Lee Kesterson said there is probably nothing that can be done about Nashville’s solar panel project, but she urged quorum court members to look at passing an ordinance to create a foliage buffer around properties were solar displays are located in the future.

Sheriff Bryan McJunkins informed j.p.’s he will need to add a line item for his budget next year to cover part time salaries.  He also said he is working with the administration at the Umpire school campus for changes the district would like to see with the school resource officer.  The district is interested in having a full-time resource officer.  In the past five school years, assorted deputies have filled the position in a rotation as their county work schedules have allowed.  The sheriff said Deputy Brandon Smith has expressed interest in filling the full-time position on the Umpire campus.
