Nashville residents asked to stop littering
Nashville officials are becoming concerned about the amount of litter seen in all sections of town. Police Chief Amy Marion said it can be difficult for police to enforce littering, because most people aren’t going to discard their trash on the ground when a police officer is nearby. If the litter contains a person’s name or some other identification, it still has to be proven that the individual discarded the items. Sometimes, authorities come across an entire trash bag, which can make things a little easier to enforce. Marion said most of the time that type of situation occurs in the county, when someone is dumping trash on a landowner’s property.
Should you get caught littering, the fine is $370.
