Nashville Rotary Club Hears From 8th District Court Prosecutor

Prosecuting Attorney for the 8th Judicial District Court, Stephanie Potter Barrett of Texarkana, was the guest speaker at this week Nashville Rotary Club.

Barrett spoke about the importance of the jury duty.

Barrett explained jury duty is what separates the American judicial system and the legal system of other countries. She stated the Bill of Rights give Americans the right to a jury trial and that a jury consist of 12 impartial jurors.

When asked what type of juror she preferred, Barrett stated it depended on what type of case she was prosecuting.

Representatives of UA Cossatot, Dustin Roberts and Erika Buenrrostro, were present with a member of the college’s Interact Club which is Rotary International’s service club for young people.

Club members also agreed to make a one-time donation of $100 to the Rotary International of Australia to support drought relief for the Australian farmers.
