Nashville School Board accepts 9 resignations
Calendar year 2021 is bringing numerous personnel changes to the Nashville School District. At Tuesday’s board meeting, the resignations of several staff members were accepted. Superintendent Doug Graham gives a recap of the nine resignations from last night:
Tuesday’s meeting also included a 53 minute executive session to discuss the superintendent’s contract. Graham met with the board all but three of those minutes. Upon returning to open session, Board President Jerry Wilson announced Superintendent Graham has asked the board to not extend his contract past the current agreement that expires June 30th, 2023.
The Nashville School District is continuing their COVID Emergency Leave policy. For this entire school year, certified and classified staff have been given up to 20 days per person to use for a COVID related leave, before staff members have to begin using their personal sick days. Superintendent Doug Graham estimated that during 70 to 80 percent of the absent time for staff members, they have continued working remotely. The new policy was implemented for the second half of the school year, because funding for the leave policies expired in December. The board’s vote to continue the policy was made retroactive to the start of this semester, on January 4th.
