Nashville School Board Approves Administrative Contracts, 2026-27 Calendar

The Nashville School District Board of Education met Monday for their regular monthly meeting, approving administrative contracts, personnel changes and the 2026-2027 school calendar.

Board members voted 5-0 to approve the re-employment and contracts of several administrators, including James Nichols as Transportation and Maintenance Director and Athletic Director; Tate Gordon as Assistant Superintendent; Ashley Riggs as High School Principal; Hannah Topor as Junior High Principal; Nathan Evans as Primary Principal; Tyra Hughes as Elementary Principal; and Kim Slayton as Curriculum Coordinator.

In personnel matters, the board unanimously approved the hiring of Kaylie Hignight as Assistant Trap Coach. Members also accepted the resignations of Mikayla Clift as Head Cross Country Coach, Stephanie Hendry as High School Nurse, and Ray Rogers as ALE Para. All motions passed by 5-0 votes.

The board also approved the 2026-2027 school calendar. Students will begin classes on Aug. 3, 2026, and the school year will conclude May 27, 2027.

Superintendent Doug Graham announced that this year’s Teacher of the Year is Ashley Conrad, who has more than 10 years of experience in education.
