Nashville School Board Approves Personnel Recommendations, Discusses Teacher Attendance

The Nashville School Board held their regular monthly meeting Monday with board members Nick Britt and Anthony Whitmore absent.

During the meeting, the board approved Superintendent Doug Graham’s recommendation to hire several new employees. Approved hires included Clara Prater as Head Nashville Junior High Girls Basketball Coach and Teacher, JT Carter as IT Technician, Kim Greenfield as Primary ALE Teacher, and Lee Greenfield as Secondary Math Teacher. The motion passed unanimously, 3-0.

Graham also reported receiving the district’s end-of-year teacher absentee report and compared this year’s attendance figures to those from the previous school year.

Graham said he would like to have an incentive-based attendance plan for teachers ready for consideration before the board’s August meeting.

The board also approved several additional items, including the district’s final accreditation report, the purchase of an International school bus for $156,635, summer projects, the purchase of school supplies for the 2026-2027 school year totaling $25,000 for Nashville Primary School students and $15,000 for Nashville Elementary School students, as well as student handbook changes for all four campuses.

Board members also announced a special called meeting scheduled for Monday, June 29, at 5:30 p.m. to discuss changes to all indexes for extended contracts.
