Nashville School Board approves the hiring of a 2nd SRO
Monday afternoon, the Nashville School Board held a special called meeting to approve the hiring of a second School Resource Officer.
Superintendent Doug Graham reported the Nashville City Council had approved the hiring of a second School Resource Officer. He said a second resource officer would cost the district approximately $40,000 a year. Graham stated the district was committed to providing safety on all of their campuses.
Graham reported the State’s School Safety Committee is expected to present their recommendations to Governor Asa Hutchinson this week. Graham said he expects the list of recommendations could go from the current 18 recommendations to around 39.
The board also approved a Certified Safety and Security Officer program for the district. The program will include extensive training. Graham recommended a $2,000 stipend for the district employees who wanted to be a part of the CSSR program.
