Nashville School Board Considers 2020/2021 Proposed Budget
A proposed budget for the 20/21 school year is under consideration by the Nashville School Board. Superintendent Doug Graham presented the budget at Monday’s board meeting. As presented, the budget includes $4.7 million dollars in local revenue and $11.7 million dollars from state funding sources, giving the local district a total of $20.6 million dollars.
On the expense side, the district is projecting expenses of nearly $16.4 million dollars. Those figures combine to produce an expected ending balance of $4.2 million dollars for the end of the fiscal year on June 30th, 2021.
Superintendent Graham said the budget has quite a bit of expense due to COVID-19. The district has committed to making the on campus learning experience the safest possible by including cleaning supplies or other items related to COVID-19 in the budget for every campus location:
There are some projects Graham mentioned he would like to see the district accomplish at some point. He outlined the need to assist the city park with improved tennis courts, put a new roof on the primary school with the assistance of state funding, and pursue L.E.D. lighting at Scrapper Stadium.
The proposed budget was not approved at Monday’s meeting. A special budget workshop will be held next week and a special board meeting would be called later to adopt the budget projections.
