Nashville School Board December meeting
Earlier this week during the Nashville School Board’s regular monthly meeting, the board approved a motion to expel a 9th grade student for the remainder of the 2023-2024 school year for violation of school policy. That student will be able to return in the fall of 2024.
Also during the meeting, Superintendent Doug Graham made a recommendation to employ Eric Perez as Interim High School Assistant Principal. There was a 4 to 0 vote to approve Graham’s recommendation.
Graham also informed the board that the park is planning to reapply for the tennis court grant in January 2024. Graham stated that he had visited with two companies about the possibility of building two tennis courts on school property with the option to add two additional courts in the future. Graham reported he received proposals from one company that gave four placement options and ranged in prices from $550,000 to $770,000. Graham said that he should hear from the other company soon and hopes to be able to make a decision by the January meeting to either move forward or to table it.
In conclusion, the District Dyslexia Coordinator Holly Couch presented information to the board on Dyslexia laws and requirements. Couch said that there were currently 124 students K-12 receiving dyslexia services and 5 in the process of being tested.
