Nashville School Board Discusses Elementary Drop-Off, Approves 2026-2027 Budget

The Nashville School Board held their regular monthly meeting Monday, where members heard from a grandparent during public comment about safety concerns at the Elementary School drop-off area and later approved the district’s 2026-2027 school budget.

During the public comment period, Lois Henson asked the district to consider a different arrangement for buses and vehicles at the Elementary School drop-off section.

Henson suggested a setup similar to the Primary School, where buses would be on the opposite side of the car drop-off area. She said she believes the change could provide a safer environment for students.

Superintendent Doug Graham told Henson the district would look into the situation and see what could be done to find a solution. He also thanked her for bringing the concern to the board’s attention.

Graham then presented an overview of the district’s 2026-2027 school budget.

Graham also reviewed state and federal funding included in the district’s budget.

He went over additional areas of the budget, including curriculum and classified employee salaries.

Graham also reviewed expenses for maintenance, supplies, property insurance, travel and other related costs, along with the district’s telephone expenses. Those categories totaled approximately 1-million-269-thousand-500 dollars.

Following the discussion, board member Anthony Whitmore made a motion to approve the 2026-2027 school budget as presented by Graham. The motion was seconded by Nick Britt and approved by the board.

The board also approved a bid from Solar for air conditioning work at ABC School. The bid was approved in the amount of 13-thousand-341 dollars.
