Nashville School Board Holds Monthly Meeting, Approves Resignations and Discusses Upcoming Testing Plans

The Nashville School Board convened for their regular monthly meeting on Monday, where key decisions were made regarding staffing and testing plans for the upcoming school year.

During the meeting, the board approved a motion to accept the resignations of several staff members. Kali Hester Daniel’s resignation will be effective May 1, 2025. Willard Lewis will be stepping down effective March 17, 2025. Zach Hopkins and Amy Bearden’s resignations will take effect at the end of their respective contracts.

Testing Coordinator Kim Slayton provided the board with an update on the state-mandated testing that is occupying much of the district’s time during the spring season.

Slayton also shared valuable information about the 2025-2026 Preliminary Testing Calendar, which includes dates for key assessments such as the ACT, ACT WorkKeys, and additional testing requirements.

Superintendent Doug Graham reported on the district’s impressive academic growth between the Fall and Spring Interim assessments. According to Graham, results showed a significant increase in performance, with improvements ranging from 80% or higher. The standout achievement was a perfect score of 100% in certain grade levels, particularly from 3rd to 8th grade students.

In closing, Superintendent Graham reminded those in attendance that nominations for the Hall of Fame/Hall of Honor 2025 will close at noon on Friday, March 28th. He encouraged the community to submit nominations before the deadline.
