Nashville School Board Reviews Enrollment, School Grades and District Updates

The Nashville School Board held its regular monthly meeting Monday, with each building principal providing an update to the public before the meeting began.

Nashville Primary School Principal Nathan Evans reported a total enrollment of 446 students. That includes 87 kindergarten students, 114 first graders, 127 second graders and 118 third graders.

Evans also shared an update on the school’s state letter grade. He said Nashville Primary increased its score by 142 points, resulting in a B letter grade.

Nashville Elementary School Principal Tabitha Jones reported an enrollment of 412 students. The school has 141 fourth graders, 152 fifth graders and 119 sixth graders.

Jones also announced that Nashville Elementary earned a B letter grade.

At Nashville Junior High School, Principal Hanah Toper reported a total enrollment of 382 students. There are 129 seventh graders, 116 eighth graders and 137 ninth graders.

Toper said the junior high narrowly missed earning a B letter grade, falling short by one-quarter of a point. She said the difference was based on growth margins.

Nashville High School Principal Ashley Riggs reported a total enrollment of 371 students. The school has 122 sophomores, 130 juniors and 119 seniors.

Riggs also reported that Nashville High School earned a B letter grade, an improvement over the school’s grade from last year.

Superintendent Doug Graham took time to recognize the principals and staff members across the district for their work. Graham also recognized Nashville High School for receiving an Arkansas Gem School designation.

During the regular monthly meeting, the school board approved a motion for the district to join a lawsuit involving Meta.

The board also approved an increase in substitute teacher pay, raising the daily rate from $75 to $85.

The meeting concluded after the board addressed the remaining items on its agenda.
