The Nashville School District plans to use a portion of recently allocated COVID-19 funds to improve the HVAC units at the primary & elementary schools. Superintendent Doug Graham said he’s hopeful the work will be finished this summer.

The latest round of Covid funds received by the district totaled about 5 million dollars.

The Nashville School Board has voted to relax the district’s policy of requiring a face mask to be worn on campus. In action taken at Monday’s April meeting, the board voted 4 to 1 to make the masks optional for the remainder of the school year. Tem Gunter cast the only opposing vote. Monday’s vote came after Governor Asa Hutchinson lifted the state’s mask mandate at the end of March. Superintendent Doug Graham said 82 percent of district employees voted in favor of making the masks optional.
As of Monday, the district continues to report none of its teachers or students are out due to testing positive for COVID-19 or for having close contact.
