Nashville School District accepts resignations and fills remaining vacancies during special called meeting

The Nashville School Board met in special session Thursday afternoon.  By the end of yesterday’s meeting, Superintendent Doug Graham said the district now has all its personnel vacancies filled.  During yesterday’s meeting, the board accepted resignations from Elementary Science teacher Sarah Matlock, Kyle Slayton as Junior High Assistant Principal and Head Baseball Coach, Wade Matlock for a coach and teaching position. Other resignations accepted yesterday were from Tammy Alexander as Junior High English teacher, Lucas Liggans as coach and teacher, and the resignation of Primary custodian Charles Gamble was accepted.

To complete the staffing positions, the board voted to promote Zac Stewart as Head Baseball Coach, Michael Coffee as Junior High Assistant Principal, Shelby Ortiz as junior high nurse, Makayla Clift was employed as Head Coach of the Scrapperette Soccer team.  Clarisa Brizo was named assistant girls soccer coach.  John Martin was promoted to Head Coach of the junior high football team.  The list of hirings also included  Justine Seavers as a special ed para-professional, Paula Alvarez was named as summer help in the tech department.  Several teaching positions were also filled, as Viviana Bustamante and Myra Cardona were hired for elementary positions and Hannah Toper was employed in a Junior High Language Arts position. 

At the recommendation of Superintendent Doug Graham, the board also approved a stipend for the Scrap Net TV.  Carolanne Pinegar has held the advisor’s position the past several years, making trips to every football game, at her expense, to oversee the video streaming.  With streaming of events to increase, the board approved a stipend that will be worth more than five thousand dollars a year, based on the current numbers.
