Nashville School District Holds Monthly Meeting with Key Updates
The Nashville School District convened for its regular monthly meeting on Monday evening, with Assistant Superintendent Tate Gordon stepping in for Superintendent Doug Graham.
During the meeting, the board approved a motion to appoint Anthony Whitmore to replace Board member Jamar Finley for Zone 5 until election. Gordon explained that Finley had resigned due to personal reasons, a decision communicated to Superintendent Graham on August 30th.
In other business, the board approved a quote from Tri-state Asphalt for $13,345 to perform seal coating and striping on the parking lot at Nashville Elementary School.
Gordon also discussed the potential benefits of the Opengate Detection System for the district.
Gordon further elaborated on a recent demonstration of the system that was presented to the safety team.
He provided details on the expected timeframe for the installation of the Opengate Systems if approved by the board.
Following discussions, the board, led by David Hilliard and seconded by Jerry Wilson, approved the purchase of four Opengate Systems for the district.
Gordon also updated the board on the construction progress of the tennis courts.
Additionally, each building principal provided enrollment figures: Nashville High School has 446 students, Nashville Junior High School has 393, Nashville Elementary School has 371, and Nashville Primary School has 566.
