Nashville School District Kicks Off New School Year with Inspirational Faculty Meeting
The Nashville School District officially kicked off preparations for the upcoming school year on Wednesday with its annual General Faculty Meeting.
Teachers and staff gathered to hear from special guest speaker Jason Curry, a husband, father, author, and motivational speaker. Curry centered his presentation around his book Finish Empty, encouraging educators to make a lasting impact both inside and outside the classroom.
During his presentation, Curry reminded teachers that “intention doesn’t determine destination,” emphasizing that success comes through action rather than good intentions alone.
He also introduced what he called the Finish Empty formula, outlining six nonnegotiable qualities he believes are essential for success: being driven, disciplined, diligent, determined, dependable, and demanding.
Curry stressed that one quality stands above the rest.
He explained that drive is like a fireāit can either burn everything down or provide warmth and purpose.
Curry then encouraged faculty members to remain diligent in their work, reminding them that consistent effort is what leads to meaningful results.
As he wrapped up his presentation, Curry left educators with one final message of encouragement, expressing his hope that they would go into the new school year ready to succeed and make a difference.
