Nashville School District planning for 2021 graduation

The Nashville School District is already making plans for some of the school year ending activities. Covid-19 cancelled most everything last spring and altered graduation for students. Superintendent Doug Graham said he and the high school administration are already working on plans for some type of junior/senior banquet that will stay within the guidelines of state health requirements. Also, Graham announced at Monday’s school board meeting, that graduation ceremonies will be held in Scrapper Arena, with the same type of limited capacity as was seen for the 2019/2020 school year.
A number of the district’s staff who retired last summer were honored Monday evening. Traditionally, retiring personnel are given a reception at the end of school, but that wasn’t allowed by COVID-19. Instead, Graham took time to honor the eight individuals at Monday’s board meeting. The list included Joy Freel, Karen Tollett, Vanessa Keaster, Ted Green, Phillip Miller, Tammy Elliot, Karen Kell and Damon Williams. Those eight represented 285 years combined teaching years.
