Nashville School Superintendent Shares Updates at Rotary Club Meeting

Wednesday, Nashville School Superintendent Doug Graham spoke to the Nashville Rotary Club. Graham introduced the district administrators including the campus principals, assistant principals, assistant superintendent Gordan Tate, testing coordinator Kim Slayton and James Nichols who is the district’s athletic director, maintenance director and transportation director.

Graham stated the district as 150 classroom teachers and 1,800 students.

Graham said there has been a lot of positive input concerning the new hybrid calendar, especially since the first break. He said the one that concerns him is if the calendar will align itself to the state’s testing schedule.

Graham said preliminary reports are trending in a positive direction when it comes to student absenteeism. He said he hopes it will also improve the number of teacher absences.

Graham reported the district has purchased and is preparing to install the new Weapon Detection System. He said the equipment will add another layer of safety for the students and staff of the Nashville School District.

Graham also reported that he and administrators were pleased with most of the results of last year’s test scores. He said the difficult thing will be determine how they implement plans to help students who did not score on grade level improve.

Graham said this school year has been positive.
