Nashville Scrapperette Softball Coach guest speaker at Nashville Rotary Club

Nashville Scrapperette head softball coach, Boomer Brown was the guest speaker for the Nashville Rotary Club this week.

Brown reported he had 23 Scrapperette players this season, including two seniors, three juniors, 12 sophomores and six freshman. He said this year’s team will be different because he graduated seven seniors last year. However, Brown said this year’s team will be young, but they’ll be pretty good.

Expectations are high for this year’s Scrapperettes. Last years, team played for a state championship in Benton.

In the first conference game of the season, the Scrapperettes hosted the Malvern Lady Leopards are ranked #3 in 4A softball. The Scrapperettes led early but ultimately lost to the Lady Leopards. Coach Brown said this year’s team will need to rely on their fielding.

Brown said this time of year, you must be prepared to make changes to the schedule.

Brown also talked about recent improvements to Futrell Field in the Nashville City Park.

Nashville’s schedule this year is stacked with great opposition, including games against the #1 ranked team in 1A, 4A and 6A. The Scrapperettes will also face some of the best teams in the state in their conference of Malvern, Ashdown, Arkadelphia, Magnolia, De Queen, Hope and Camden Fairview.
