Nashville Senior Scrappers defeated by the Magnolia Bobcats

Friday night, the Shawn Jackson era of Scrapper football did not end the way the Scrapper faithful had hoped, but one of the biggest positives was the defense.

Magnolia defeated Nashville 26 to 7 on the Hill and Nashville opens the 2024 season 0 and 1 before they travel to Hope Friday night for a non-conference match-up against an improved Bobcat team.

Magnolia opened the scoring Friday night on a field goal that gave them a 3 to nothing lead with 2:29 to play in the first quarter.

Roochie Wiley picked off a Panther pass, but the offense turned the ball back over to Magnolia one play later. Magnolia would score with 5:53 to play in the first half following a muffed punt deep in Scrapper territory to take a 10 to nothing lead.

The Scrappers would get on the board in the first half on a touchdown pass from Karson Chambers to Kasen Morgan with 1:39 to play in the half, but Magnolia would respond by returning the ensuing kickoff for a touchdown to take a 20 to 7 lead into the locker room.

In the fourth quarter Davonte Gillham intercepted a Magnolia pass, but Panthers recovered a fumble a few plays later. Nashville would recover a Magnolia fumble in the fourth quarter, but the Panthers intercepted Chambers late in the game.

Magnolia would score with 1:13 remaining the game to take the victory 26 to 7.

Nashville travels to Hope Friday night. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 pm. The game will be broadcast live on KMTB 99.5.
