Nashville shooting ruled justified
An update on the shooting that took place last week. Arkansas law provides that a person is justified in using self defense if that person can no longer safely retreat without fear for his or her life. According to the prosecuting attorney, Erin Hunter, it is apparent through the thorough investigation of this incident that Mr. Byron Wesson retreated for several minutes attempting to avoid a physical altercation, including at one point, attempting to get into his vehicle and leave. After being prevented from leaving and then being pursued by Andy Wesson in an aggressive manner wielding a knife, Byron Wesson fired shots in self defense at Andy Wesson. After a thorough investigation that included talking with multiple eyewitnesses, reviewing various surveillance camera videos and conducting a crime scene analysis, no criminal charges will be brought against Byron Wesson based on such evidence.
