Nashville Track Coaches Preview Postseason Push at Rotary Meeting: Scrapperette Depth, Scrapper Star Power Highlight Season Outlook

Last week, members of the Nashville Rotary Club heard updates from the Nashville track coaches as the season ramps up toward postseason competition.

Girls Program Led by Depth and Talent

Magen Scrivner, head coach of the Nashville Jr. and Sr. High girls track teams, shared that she currently has 60 young ladies competing in the Scrapperette track program.

The Junior High squad recently brought home a second-place finish at the Jr. Scrapper Relays, held last Tuesday.

Looking ahead, Scrivner emphasized the level of competition her team faces in the upcoming 7-4A district meet, which she described as one of the toughest conferences in the state. Standout athletes leading the charge this season include distance runner Janice Gonzales, sprinter Angel Watson, and mid-distance runner Kennedy Scrivner.

Boys Team Featuring State Qualifier

Senior High boys coach Kirby Adcock reported that 25 athletes are currently competing for the Scrappers. He spotlighted Roochi Wily, who has qualified for the state meet in three events. Wily recently earned high point honors at the Magnolia meet with an impressive 34 points.

Adcock echoed Scrivner’s sentiments about the difficulty of the 7-4A district, noting the dominance of back-to-back state champions Magnolia Panthers, along with strong competition from Camden Fairview, Hope, and De Queen.

The Arkansas state track meet is scheduled for May 6 in Heber Springs.
