Nevada County Depot Museum Secures State Grants to Expand Programs and Exhibits in 2026

The Nevada County Depot Museum has been selected as a 2026 recipient of both the Arkansas Heritage Grant and the Arkansas Small Museum Grant, funding that will support an expanded slate of public programs and exhibits throughout the year. Planned offerings include events commemorating America’s 250th anniversary, along with programming that highlights the arts and sciences.

The Arkansas Small Museum Grant, combined with a private donation, will help underwrite new exhibits and hands-on programming through the museum’s “STEAM Saturdays” series. Designed to engage all ages, these programs blend history, science, and art into interactive educational experiences for the community.

The next installment in the series, “Electric Flowers,” will introduce participants to basic circuitry while guiding them in creating a light-up flower—just in time for a Mother’s Day bouquet. The program is scheduled for May 9 from 1 to 2:30 p.m. at the Nevada County Depot Museum, 403 West First Street in Prescott. Registration is available online at the museum’s website.

In addition, the Arkansas Heritage Grant will support upcoming temporary exhibits and a reenactment of the Battle of Prairie D’Ane. The reenactment is set for November 7–8 at the battlefield, located at 2243 Highway 19 in Prescott.
