New program offered at UA Cossatot

Last week during the Nashville Rotary Club meeting, UA Cossatot Chancellor Dr. Steve Cole introduced Marty Allen. Allen worked on the project to provide rural areas served by Southwest Arkansas REA with high-speed fiber internet through Four States Fiber.

Cole stated UA Cossatot would start offering a Fiber Network Engineer program this April.

Allen said it was a pilot program that was designed along side industry partners to teach FTTH networks, routing, and switching. He said it would combine hands-on labs, practical experience and guest lectures will provide real-world skills and insights into the latest FTTH technology advancements.

Allen explained the program would be a 15-week program for students who are 18-years of age, have a valid driver’s license and basic computer skills. He said the program would be limited to 10 students per semester on the Lockesburg campus.
