Nidec Announces Expansion in Mena

Nidec Motor Corporation is expanding its existing facility in Mena with an investment of more than $19 million. With the expansion, Nidec aims to create 35 new jobs over five years. The company is planning a 61,000-square-foot expansion to support growth. The new expansion will enable Nidec to add production and increase capacity for its test lab, as well as add a new customer demonstration room for its large-scale motors.
At the groundbreaking ceremony, the Executive Director of the Arkansas Economic Development Commission, Clint O’Neal called it a big day for Mena and all of western Arkansas:”

“Construction work on the expansion is expected to be completed in the second quarter of 2027. Nidec will be hiring for a range of positions, including machine operators. O’Neal says this investment is a testament to the business-friendly environment in Mena and in Arkansas. O’Neal added that company officials are particularly happy with the quality of the workforce in the western Arkansas area:”

“O’Neal and Secretary of Commerce Hugh McDonald recently traveled to Asia for a trade mission to promote Arkansas. The trip included a stop at Nidec’s corporate headquarters in Kyoto, Japan. O’Neal believes that the recent two-week trip to Japan, South Korea, and Taiwan will result in additional positive economic announcements in Arkansas in the coming months:”

“Nidec is the world’s number one comprehensive motor manufacturer, ranging from micro-size to super large, as well as application products and services in I.T., automation, home appliances, automobiles, commercial and industrial systems, environmental, energy, and many other businesses. The company began operations in Mena in 1966 as Emerson-owned U.S. Motors. Nidec purchased the Mena facility in 2010. The company currently employs around 400 at its manufacturing facility in Mena.”
