No tag light results in drug arrest
On January 22nd Pike County Deputy Chris Gates conducted a traffic stop on a pick up for no tag light.
The driver was identified as 35 year old Zachrey Cogburn of Norman.
It was reported that after Deputy Gates ran Cogburn’s identification through dispatch, Gates was advised that Cogburn had a suspended license and had a search waiver on file.
Deputy Gates reportedly asked Cogburn to step out of his vehicle and searched his person. Gates found a shard of methamphetamine in a compartment under the radio in the dash.
As reported Deputy Munz with the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office arrived with a kit to test a small amount of the shard and it tested positive for methamphetamine. Cogburn was arrested and transported to the Pike County Jail and was charged with Possession of a controlled substance, no tag light, and driving on suspended license.
