NPD Officer Discusses Training with New K-9 Thor
The Nashville Police Department (NPD) recently introduced its newest member, K-9 Officer Thor, a highly trained dog who assists in the department’s efforts to keep the community safe. Recently, KMTB and KNAS had the opportunity to speak with Officer Greg Parker, who has been working closely with Thor since his arrival.
Parker, who underwent an intensive two-week training program with Thor, shared the dedication required to form a successful partnership. The training was no easy task, with Parker putting in long hours, sometimes working between 10 to 14 hours a day.
Officer Parker went on to explain that being a K-9 officer is about more than just training—it’s about understanding the unique abilities of the dog and working closely with them to ensure a successful partnership. He provided some insight into Thor’s background, explaining where the dog came from and how he became part of the NPD team.
With Thor on the team, the NPD is ready to take their law enforcement capabilities to the next level.
