Park Director presents 10-year plan to Park Commission
Tuesday afternoon during the monthly meeting of the Nashville Park and Recreation Commission meeting, Park Director Meghan Floyd reported the park wrapped up its third through sixth grade basketball season earlier this month. She said they had two teams participate from Murfreesboro and she was pleased with the growth of the program.
Floyd also reported the baseball draft was held on Saturday, February 10 and there will be 237 participates from Nashville with three 5U t-ball teams, three 6U, seven 8U, four 10U, two 12U and 1 14U teams from Nashville. She said the park will also host teams from Dierks, Murfreesboro, South Pike County, Delight, Kirby, Mt Ida, Caddo Hills, Horatio and Mineral Springs.
Floyd said the season will begin on March 25 with games being played on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays.
The baseball jamboree is scheduled for March 16, however, if there is a rain out, the jamboree will be held on April 20th.
This season, the park will charge a $2 entry fee for baseball, t-ball and softball games.
Floyd stated the park charges a $3 entry fee for basketball games and the fee will help the park update the park facilities and equipment. Season passes will be available for $25 for an individual or $45 for two people. To purchase a season pass, stop by the park office or purchase one at the gate when you enter for a game.
Floyd presented a project list that she would like to complete in 2024 and she presented a 10-year plan that includes the construction of a multipurpose recreation center.
