Physician Arrested in Texarkana
Federal agents with the DEA and FBI raided Primary Care Specialists in Texarkana, Arkansas on Tuesday and arrested Dr. Lonnie Parker. A federal grand jury in the Western District of Arkansas indicted Dr. Parker on nine counts of Prescribing Without a Legitimate Medical Purpose Outside the Scope of a Professional Practice. He is alleged to have over-prescribed several controlled substances, according to a complaint that described a suspected pill mill and possible overdose death of a patient.
U.S. Senator John Boozman released a statement concerning the arrest and said that the work of the U.S. Attorney and authorities to identify and now act to hold over-prescribers responsible sends a clear message as to their intention to crack down on this behavior in order to end the plague of opioid addiction in Arkansas.
