Pike County Court
Pike County Court met Monday seeing 37 YO Jason Cogburn of Glenwood. Cogburn faces 1 felony charge of Leaving the Scene of an accident involving personal injury or death. Here are the facts constituting reasonable cause: On March 26th, 2021 at approximately 3:45pm Jason Cogburn was traveling with his wife, Subrina Cogburn in their vehicle attempting to pull from a parking lot onto Highway 70 E in Glenwood. Upon attempting to pull onto Highway 70 E a motorist on a motorcycle hit the front of Cogburns vehicle due to Cogburn failing to yield the right of way. When troopers responded to the incident they made contact with Mrs. Cogburn as Jason Cogburn had already fled the scene. Troopers questioned Mrs. Cogburn about the incident in which she told troopers she was operating the vehicle at the time of the accident. Troopers questioned who else was in the vehicle and when Mrs. Cogburn replied she lied to Troopers stating that she was driving at the time of the accident. She also stated she did not know the whereabouts of her husband, Jason Cogburn. Upon investigation witnesses advised troopers that Jason Cogburn was in the driver seat at the time of the accident. This was confirmed later upon review of outside camera footage of a nearby building. Subrina Cogburn was issued a citation for obstructing governmental operations and filing a false report to law enforcement. Jason Cogburn pleaded not guilty on April 19th and motioned Monday June, 21st for a continuance which was granted. Cogburn has a status hearing date of July 19th, a pre-trial reset for August 23rd, and a trial date set for September 16th.
