Pike County Extension Service Offers Feral Hog Trap
The Pike County Cooperative Extension Service has aquired a feral hog trap. The device is part of a statewide program to control the animals which cause millions of dollars of damage to agricultural land in Arkansas each year. The hogs are also known to carry several diseases such as brucellosis, pseudorabies and tuberculosis.
Agri producers who would like to use the trap should contact the extension office. The agent will ask for game camera photos of the hogs for three consecutive nights. The agent will deliever the trap and help with set-up of the equipment. A tutorial and ongoing assistance is included in the $25 per week rental fee.
Pike County Ag Agent, Terrell Davis, is planning to host several educational programs featuring the trap as soon as COVID-19 safety measures aren’t required.
