Pike County FCS to Host “Cooking for a Change” Classes in Murfreesboro

On Wednesday, we spoke with Eva Langley, Pike County Family and Consumer Sciences (FCS) Agent, about an upcoming educational cooking event aimed at improving health and family wellness.
The event, titled “Cooking for a Change,” will be held Wednesday, January 28th at 9 a.m. and Thursday, January 29th at 5:30 p.m. The classes will take place at 100 Court Street, Suite A, in Murfreesboro. The purpose of the program is to help participants improve their health, save money, and encourage more family dinners at home.
Langley shared that she will be partnering with Sheila Ballard, the Nevada County FCS Agent, for the event.
Langley explained that the name “Cooking for a Change” reflects the need to cut back on sugar and starches, while also creating opportunities to bring families back together around the dinner table.
She also noted that participants will learn about healthy fats versus unhealthy fats.
Langley added that she plans to offer a different menu each month to keep the program fresh and engaging for participants.
Registration for the class is $20 per session. Those interested can register by calling 870-285-2161.
