Pike County JPs considering a solar panel operation

The Pike County Quorum Court has given approval for a study to be conducted on possible energy savings through a solar panel operation. At Monday night’s December meeting, j.p.’s heard from two representatives of McKinstry Industries. The company is the same one who has initiated the program for Howard County and the city of Nashville. Howard County Judge Kevin Smith was also in attendance at the Pike County meeting to speak on how the program is operating in his county.
Both McKinstry representatives encouraged the county to make a decisions before end of next year to lock in the best possible debt services payment. The proposed study will take approximately three months to complete and cost around $12,000 dollars. McKinstry will show the county where the cost versus savings would benefit the county over a long term period.
After a lengthy discussion on the matter, j.p.’s voted to allow County Judge Dewight Mack.
