Pike County Quorum Court approves County Extension move
The Pike County Quorum Court has conducted its first meeting of the new year. J.P.’s assembled Tuesday evening for their regular January meeting. J.P.’s voted to allow the county’s extension office move into the office space that was vacated by Circuit Judge Charles Yeargan at the end of last year. Extension Agent Terrell Davis requested the space in hopes of foot traffic to the extension service increasing, as well as the ability to have highway frontage and additional parking. County Judge Dewight Mack said the move would also free up additional office space for the county.
Justice Johnny Plyler was named the quorum court’s delegate to attend state functions, and Judge Mack said information is still being gathered from the past three years on utility bills to present a report concerning the proposed solar panel project.
Since this week’s meeting was the first for the new term, J.P..’s set their meeting dates to continue being on the 3rd Monday of each month, unless that day falls on a holiday. Meeting times will continue at 6 p.m. during the standard time and 7 p.m. during daylight saving time.
