Pike County Quorum Court Meeting

Justices of the Peace of the Pike County Quorum Court held their regular monthly meeting on Monday.

According to Treasurer Loletia Rather’s report for the month of March, County General had a beginning balance of $1,405,228.33 and an ending balance of $1,358,821.46. County Road had a beginning balance of $907,387.18 and an ending balance of $789,765.82. Landfill had a beginning balance of $980,273.13 and an ending balance of $967,046.93. There was an 8 to 0 vote to accept the treasurer’s report.

Clerk Randee Reid presented a hot check fees report from Prosecuting Attorney Jana Bradford’s Coordinator Kellie Epperly. The report showed a beginning 2022 balance of $38,157.43 and a balance of $39,104.28 as of December 31st, 2022. This report was presented at the request of the prosecutor’s auditor.

During the meeting Pike County Sheriff Travis Hill addressed the quorum of the need to purchase the land surrounding the jail which was approximately one acre. Hill stated that some of the fence around the jail was on city owned property as well as the office trailers and could cause issues in the future. This additional space would also allow for future expansion of a shop area if purchased. Hill mentioned after the assessment, the Murfreesboro Industrial Development had agreed to sell the property for $10,000. There was an 8 to 0 vote to purchase the land using LATC Funds. All were in favor of the motion.
