Pike County Quorum Court Receives FEMA Funds and Discusses Financial and Community Updates
The Pike County Quorum Court convened for their regular monthly meeting on Monday night.
Pike County Judge Eddie Howard announced that the county had recently received a FEMA reimbursement check amounting to $93,339.39. This funding, intended to cover expenses from the 2019 flood, will be directed towards the county’s road budget. Howard praised his staff for their meticulous data collection efforts, which contributed to securing the reimbursement.
In addition, Judge Howard shared his ongoing discussions with Tyson Foods and Pilgrim’s Pride about potential food donations to the Senior Citizens Center, with the goal of reducing operational costs. The Glenwood Center has already received an initial donation from Tyson Foods and is actively pursuing a grant for future contributions. It was also noted that budgetary cuts have been implemented at both the Murfreesboro and Glenwood sites to help balance the budget and improve the county’s financial outlook.
Treasurer Loletia Rather presented the financial report, highlighting the balances across various county funds. The County General fund began with $1,368,678.11 and ended with $1,535,832.91. The County Road fund saw a slight increase from $918,553.76 to $924,314.27, while the Landfill fund grew from $998,230.40 to $1,029,689.05. The Justices of the Peace unanimously approved the Treasurer’s report as presented.
