Pike County residents participated in special called election
Twenty-two percent of the registered voters in Glenwood turned out and voted in the special called election on August 8 in Pike County. There were 141 early votes cast, 82 on the date of the election and one absentee.
Glenwood voters approved the .5 cent sales and use tax by a vote of 169 for and 55 against. Voters approved the refunding of the city’s 2004 bonds and their 2006 bonds by a vote of 176 for and 47 against. They also approved the water improvement bonds by a vote of 176 for and 47 against.
In another special election, this one in Hempstead County, voters voted not to approve a millage increase for the Hope School District.
The Hope School District had proposed a 12 mill increase for improvements on several campuses. The millage increase would have increased the Hope School District from 34.7 mills to 46.7 mills. Voters cast 819 votes against the proposed increase and 308 votes for the millage increase.
