Pinson named President of Nashville Rotary Club
Wednesday afternoon, Nick Birmingham passed the presidential gavel to Jim Pinson who will begin serving as the Nashville Rotary Club’s president on July 1st. Birmingham was presented a past-president plaque by Rotary Club member Carol Murray.
Birmingham told KMTB that this past year has been filled with memorable programs, including knife maker and Forged in Fire South America judge Ricardo Vilar, members of the Master Gardeners club, Nashville High School student and District V FCCLA First Vice-President Luis Maya, District Governor Kathy Carter and Central Baptist College in Conway professor Kateryna Pitchford, who moved to America 18-years ago from the Ukraine.
Birmingham also stated the Nashville Rotary Club helped him connect with the community when he and his wife moved to Nashville.
Pinson presented several goals for the upcoming year for the club, including celebrating the club’s 100th anniversary. He stated the Rotary Club will have opportunities to move forward by reflecting on its past.
This year, Rotary International elected its first female president. She is Jennifer Jones of Ontario, Canada and this year’s theme is “Imagine Rotary.” Jones is challenging all Rotary Clubs to imagine the possibilities in the change that Rotarians can make in their communities to change the world. Jones was quoted as saying, imagine, a world that deserves our best, where we get up each day knowing that we can make a difference.
The Nashville Rotary Club will work this year to make a difference in the community, by touching the lives of those around them.
