Pre-Trial held Wednesday Morning in the Howard County Circuit Court in Drug Case

Several pretrial hearings were held Wednesday, April 15, in Howard County Circuit Court before Judge Bryan Chesshir.

Plea agreements were entered for defendants Nickolas Earl Lemons, Porsha Linn Gray, and Charles Worton Jr. The court also granted continuances in the cases of Jason Paul Dixon, Paul Dewayne Eudy, and Vonderek Letrell Stewart.

However, a request for continuance by Kyle Whisenhunt was denied. His case is now set to proceed to trial during the week of May 12. When asked to provide a reason for the request, Whisenhunt told the court he was attempting to complete a job. Judge Chesshir ruled that the explanation did not justify delaying the proceedings and ordered the case to move forward as scheduled.

Whisenhunt is charged with one count of possession of a Schedule II controlled substance (methamphetamine) with intent to deliver — between 10 and 20 grams — as well as one count of possession of drug paraphernalia.

According to an affidavit, Whisenhunt was stopped by a Nashville police officer on August 11, 2025, due to an inoperable brake lamp.

During the traffic stop, Whisenhunt consented to a search of his vehicle but declined a personal pat-down. A K-9 unit was then called to the scene to conduct an open-air sniff. The K-9, identified as Thor, alerted to the presence of narcotics. Whisenhunt was subsequently instructed to empty his pockets.

The officer reported finding a glass smoking pipe, a large sum of cash, and two small bags containing a crystal-like substance believed to be methamphetamine. The substance was submitted to the Arkansas State Crime Laboratory for chemical analysis.
