Quorum Court Discusses Howard County Airport Upgrades

Upgrades are coming to the Howard County airport. At Monday’s quorum court meeting, j.p.’s voted to appropriate up to 75 hundred dollars to help purchase an airplane fueling system for the airport. A group of local pilots, led by Mark Wiley of Murfreesboro, was in attendance yesterday to make the proposal. Wiley said five planes are currently housed at the local airport…and he believes more pilots might move their planes to Nashville with the addition of the four thousand gallon fueling system and other future improvements that include restrooms, a pilots’ lounge, and an automated weather observation system.
Money approved yesterday for the project represents a tenth of the total cost…with the remaining portion coming from grants. The local money will be taken from a mineral rights payment of 37 thousand dollars Howard county received from the state.
