Reading of Declaration of Independence at Historic Washington State Park

The Historic Washington State Park will have a special event July 3rd-5th where The Declaration of Independence will be read as was commonly done in the 19th century. This will take place at the 1874 Courthouse. This will be done twice a day with the first time being at 10:30am and then again at  1:30pm July 3rd-5th and is free to the public. Afterwards, you can sign your own “John Hancock” to a copy of the Declaration to take home as a keepsake. The first reading of The Declaration of Independence took place four days after it was signed on July 8th, 1776 in the city of Philadelphia and was read to the citizens at noon by Colonel John Nixon.
