Red Ribbon Week at Dierks High School
This week is being observed as Red Ribbon Week by area schools and Dierks High School has taken a unique approach in planning activities for the week. Counselor Crystal Smith says educational programs are provided throughout the year, however the school staff wanted to offer enrichment activities and ways that students can improve themselves and the surrounding community. Smith says some of the activities will include a talent show and ways to improve mental health.
Students learned to get involved by participating in community service projects Monday as an alternative to drug use. Projects included cleaning up Main Street and school campuses, as well as visiting the nursing home.
